Strong Dollar = Tour Savings

The US Dollar has been on a tear over the past year, especially against the Euro and Danish Kroner. While movements in the international currency markets usually wouldn't merit a mention here, our tour is denominated in US Dollars, and most of our expenses are in Danish Kroner.

When putting together the pricing for this year's tour, we made assumptions about the value of the US Dollar that, in hindsight, turned out to be quite conservative. So we've adjusted the price of the tour downwards to reflect the realities in the currency market, and to make it easier for people paying in Euros or Kroner to join us this summer.

Head on over to our "Costs and Dates" page to check out the new prices. We've dropped more than $500 (USD) off the price of the tour for individuals, and $1,200 (USD) off for couples (double occupancy).  After that, all you have to do is visit the "Registration and Payment" page to put down your deposit for the tour of a lifetime.

G! Festival Announces Artists

The G! Festival has been described by The Guardian (UK) as "perhaps the wildest event on the festival calendar." It has earned a reputation for booking diverse acts from across the world alongside Faroese artists, and having them all play in what may be the most spectacular setting for a concert anywhere.

More than 40 acts will play the three-day event, and the first three have already been announced. Among them is the Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans. Here's a little taste of what they do:

You can see Hot 8 and all the other acts this July by signing up for the Nordic Obsession Tour and choosing the G! Festival addition.

Return of the Finder's Reward

If you're like most people, you like $100. Most people do. Now we've got a way for you to earn $100 and help your friends visit the Faroe Islands. We call it the Finder's Reward.

If you know someone who would like to visit the Faroes, send them our way. If they sign up to travel to the Faroe Islands with us this summer, we'll send you $100 (USD) as our way of saying "thanks."

When your friend registers for the tour, just have him or her put your name as the answer to the registration question "how did you learn about the tour?" We'll get in touch with you and send you your Finder's Reward.

The clever among you may be thinking, "Hey, I want to go on this tour myself. If I sign up for the tour and put my own name in the referral box, will you send me $100?" To which we reply, "Hmmm, that's a good question. Why don't you try that and see what happens?'

Christmas Arrives Early

Music fans have just been delivered an early Christmas present by the organizers of the G! Festival. While the music for the three-day event doesn't start until July 16, 2015, the first acts have already been announced.

As expected, it will be an eclectic lineup. The announced artists are a Swedish death metal band, Icelandic electronica duo, and perhaps the most renown Faroese singer/songwriter. You can read the full announcement here. Organizers will continue making artist announcements right up until July. About 40 artists perform at the festival each summer.

The G! Festival has been described as one of the coolest small music festivals in Europe. Participants in the 2015 Nordic Obsession tour will have the option to extend their stay and take in this one-of-a-kind festival in one of the most beautiful music venues on earth.

Marius at Airwaves

On our tour this past summer, Marius Ziska performed a special show for us. During that performance, he played a song he wrote about his son. More than a few of us in the room were choked up by the end of the song. Last month, Marius performed that same song for audiences at the Iceland Airwaves festival in Reykjavik. Give it a listen and you may find yourself a little choked up, too.

Late Registration

If you were interested in attending the tour and thought this ship had already sailed, we've got some good news. We just got done communicating with the hotel operator we're working with and found out we can still accept tour sign-ups for a limited time.

Space is extremely limited. We can accommodate one person, maybe two if you sign up together and are willing to sleep in a double room.

Go to our payment and registration page to reserve your spot, or drop us a line at faroepodcast@gmail.com for other payment options or to answer any questions you may have.

Installment Payment Extension... Sort Of

While March 1st is past, there is still a way to pay in installments if you're interested.

If you pay the deposit and the 1st installment when you register, you can make the rest of your payments according to the installment schedule (see "Costs and Dates" for details). Of course, this option will become less attractive as the month rolls on and the April payment date approaches. You also still have the option to pay in one lump sum when you register.

Whatever you chose, registration closes on April 4th, or when we reach capacity, whichever comes first.

Refer a Friend, Get $100

Over the past few weeks, many people have shared the news about our tour. Now we've got a way to say "thanks" to the people who help us out.

We still have a few spots left for the the 2014 tour, and if you refer a friend, we'll give you a $100 finder's fee. If you refer a couple, you'll get $200, naturally. Just have your friend include your name and email address in the "how did you find out about this tour" field when he or she registers, and we'll set you up.

However, time is running out. We'll close registration on April 4th, or when we hit our maximum number (8), whichever comes first.

The Fine Print: Finder's fee will be paid once full tour payment is received.

G! Festival Announces Acts

The G! Festival has announced the first 5 acts that will perform at the three day event in Gota. They are Tyr and Greta Svabo Bech from the Faroe Islands, Danish rockers Baby in Vain, Norwegian folkie Moddi, and the Danish/Faroese trio Boho Dancer.

The G! Fest has a reputation for putting together a eclectic lineup, and today's announcement suggests this hear will be no exception. If you want to hear songs from all five bands, check out the G! Festival's official announcement. And if you'd like to see these bands perform live this summer, join us on our tour and get the G! Festival add on.
